Marcus Mariota saw the positive power of sport firsthand.

Driven to create change and use his platform as a professional athlete, Marcus established Motiv8 Foundation during his rookie year in 2015.

Our goals

Provide positive educational and athletic outlets for kids of all ages

Distribute food and supplies to the homeless and others in need

Give back to communities, including those that shaped Marcus’ personal journey

Since launching, Motiv8 has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars towards healthy lifestyle programming and continues to fulfill its mission through signature programs, strategic partnerships, and fundraising initiatives.

As President of Motiv8 Foundation, Marcus oversees all programming decisions and drives fundraising efforts. Motiv8 symbolizes Marcus’ mission, favorite jersey number, and the area code of Honolulu, Hawaii.

My dream of playing in the NFL began at an early age in elementary school. At the same time, I also began dreaming of giving back someday and helping young kids. This is why it was important to me to start Motiv8 Foundation right after graduating from the University of Oregon. The goal and mission of Motiv8 is exactly what our name says—to motivate young people to dream big through education and athletics.

Playing in the NFL is a privilege and has responsibilities. We, as professional athletes, have a platform to help our youth for a better tomorrow. Motiv8 Foundation is a vehicle to give back and help others and I have a lifetime commitment to that mission and helping as many young people as possible.

Since activating Motiv8 Foundation we have put on many successful events to raise money and formed relationships with partners, sponsors and associations to raise awareness. We are concentrating on helping youth in my “hometowns” in Hawaii and Oregon, and beyond. We already have many exciting events in place and look forward to adding new ones along the way.

In the years to come we hope to continue energizing our youth, helping them further their education, and creating unique experiences to open their eyes to a brighter future. While this may seem to be an ambitious goal—in reality if we can help change the life of just one young person then I think we will be doing well.
