On August 8, 2023, the unthinkable happened to Maui residents. A series of wildfires broke out on the northwest side of the island and blew through the town of Lahaina leaving the town and its community in a state of emergency. While there is much to mourn, the aloha spirit has given hope to effected residents with many local organizations surging donations. Marcus and his foundation Motiv8 were able to support Lahainaluna High School football team by donating cleats to the players and sneakers for the coaches along with $10,000. Around 450 student athletes and 40 coaches lost their homes in the fires. A Luna Strong Fund run by the Downtown Athletic Club of Hawaii is helping to raise money for the school’s athletic department.
