June 20, 2021 – The Motiv8 Foundation partnered with Sweet Cheeks Winery for our inaugural Wine Release Event. Our partnership with Sweet Cheeks Winery last year was very successful in raising funds to help us with supporting Oregon communities in need and we were excited to be able to hold events again this year. With help from Motiv8 Foundation, Truman Orthodontics and Dr. Zach Truman are gifting Joshua and Jacob with total orthodontics care to help with injuries from the crash.

Marcus Mariota’s Motiv8 Foundation teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii (BGCH), Tito’s, and Ruby Tuesday Hawaii to provide backpacks with school supplies and meals to selected youth at five locations across Oahu.

The backpacks, school supplies and meals were distributed at Waianae, Nanakuli, Ewa Beach, Windward, and Spalding Honolulu BGCH Clubhouses on November 5-6,2020. Participants picked up the items at Clubhouses at a “drive through” COVID-safe event. Fifty (50) participants were selected at each location to receive the backpacks along with 4 meals for their family. Motiv8 wanted to see and hear what our community was doing to “motiv8” both themselves and the ones around them. Winners were randomly selected and announced on October 30th, Marcus’s birthday!

We are so grateful for all of you who participated in and uplifted those who were a part of #Motiv8Month. It was our hope to spread light and inspiration by highlighting how others are staying motiv8’ed. We all experience adversity at different levels and different times in our lives but our response and action to hard times is what helps us grow. The Motiv8 Foundation appreciates all of your support as we try to provide opportunities for others to follow and pursue their dreams. Here is a list of our winners and their stories:[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Week 1 winner and recipient of Marcus’ surprise birthday giveaway was Michela Haywood. Michela started a foundation to honor her daughter’s last wish which was to help other local families affected by DIPG. Her fighting spirit in her final weeks in the hospital were nothing short of fierce. This inspired the naming of Kaylan Strong’s Fight Like A Warrior Foundation, whose mission is to “raise awareness for DIPG and to help ‘Ohana on all our Islands of Hawaii with DIPG & Pediatric Brain Cancer by serving as a community.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Our week 2 #Motiv8Month winner was Hunter Smith. An undersized football player who let his work ethic and determination outsize what some thought were limiting physical attributes. His relentless pursuit to playing division 1 college football earned him a roster spot on University of North Carolina’s team. This triumph taught him that we can all accomplish our dreams regardless of how many people tell us that they’re “impossible.”[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Our week 3 winner was Brenda Umulap, one of seven women who started a non-profit in Salem, OR called Salem Angels. This non-profit benefits children and families in the foster case system through intentional giving, relationship building and mentor ship. “Helping others is how I #motiv8 myself and those around me!” -Brenda[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Our final giveaway winner for #Motiv8Month was a cheerleader from Sacred Hearts Academy in Hawai’i, Jacelyn. Her cousin’s fight to overcome brain cancer twice, inspires her to be a better person and athlete every day. Partners With Sweet Cheeks Winery

August 17, 2020 – The Motiv8 Foundation expands local support with launch of partnership with Sweet Cheeks Winery Eugene, OR.

Known for leading by example, Marcus Mariota found a way to continue to support his communities through his foundation, Motiv8.

The Motiv8 Foundation has not only supported youth, but also shelters for homeless individuals, animal shelters, as well as frontline medical professionals in hospitals. Recently, the Motiv8 Foundation has provided:

• 500+ meals for frontline nurses and healthcare workers, and housing for survivors of domestic violence
• 5000+ meals to homeless shelters
• 1000+ meals for students while schools were shut down due to COVID-19
• 1000+ pounds of dog food to Oahu SPCA and Humane Society

Sweet Cheeks Winery is also a contributor to local efforts, raising over $15,000 for Eugene’s Greenhill Humane Society – and donating the event space for fundraising efforts for other local charities and organizations.

“We are very excited to partner with such a community minded company as Sweet Cheeks Winery,” said Ed Nishioka, Director of Motiv8 Foundation, “The Mariota family and Motiv8 are dedicated to helping the underserved communities in Oregon. Our partnership with Sweet Cheeks is a real boost in assisting us with our mission. We look forward to helping the community with Sweet Cheeks now and in the future.”

The Motiv8 Foundation and Sweet Cheeks Winery joined forces to create a label to represent both the foundation, and a nod to Mariota’s heritage. The 2018 Pinot Gris retailed at $30 and the 2018 Pinot Noir retailed at $40. 2019 November Motiv8 Night at Hawaii

This marks our 3rd year of us taking young kids to a University of Hawaii game. Earlier this year, we took kids to a Tennessee Titans and Oregon Ducks game. The smiles on each kid’s face as they step on the field, walk around the stadium and watch the game will put a smile on your face. It makes for a very emotional time.

This is a very special event for us. It was just a few years ago that Marcus was one of these bright eyed kids at a game. It sparked the beginning of a dream that has led to many big things. Because of that, these events are especially important to him. Please see our gallery below for images and a message from Marcus.

We would like to thank our partners from the After School All Stars, Boys & Girls Club, Special Olympics, Palama Settlement, Kalihi YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Pop Warner teams, Catholic Charities, Twinke’s Waianae Group and our Motiv8 volunteers for their help with making our dream a reality. Motiv8 Foundation gives 5000+ meals to homeless shelters

Motiv8 continued to assist people experiencing homelessness with Giving Thanks meals in conjunction with Ruby Tuesday Hawaii. This is a Thanksgiving in May tradition. Thanksgiving meals were delivered to Homeless Shelters across Oahu. Additionally, 1000 pounds of pet food was delivered to Oahu SPCA and Humane Society.

Marcus Mariota’s Motiv8 Foundation delivering meals to front line nurses in hospitals on Oahu

Starting on Monday, April 27, Marcus Mariota’s Motiv8 Foundation and Island Insurance Foundation along with Bamboo Catering will continue this meal distribution program by providing up to 500+ meals to our health care professionals at Straub Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. Our health workers have been working tirelessly to keep the rest of us healthy! Meals are also being provided to families living at Hale Maluhia, supportive housing for survivors of domestic violence and their children.

2019 December Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity: Home Reveal – Marcus and Motiv8 partnered with Habitat for Humanity and Warrick Dunn Homes to reveal two homes in Nashville to two single mother families. The families are part of Habitat’s home program and have gone through extensive vetting and classes. Motiv8’s sponsorship helped to furnish the homes and put a $5,000 down payment toward their purchase.

We held our second Honest 8 event at Cathedral School in Honolulu. Special thanks to Project Hiehie, Shirts of Aloha and Rainbows Drive Inn.

Many job opportunities were offered to participants. Thanks to Ruby Tuesday Hawaii, Gyukaku, Rainbows Drive Inn, Big City Diner, Pro Service and other employers who participated.

2019 Special Olympics Hawaii

Motiv8 Foundation was a gold sponsor at this year’s Special Olympics Hawaii Cheer for Champions event held on Friday, May 24th 2019, at Les Murakami Stadium on the University of Hawaii campus. Marcus was a surprise guest and was a fan favorite with all of the Special Olympians.

Motiv8 Supports ALS Awareness

Motiv8 Foundation coordinated a youth art contest to be part of an awareness and fundraising campaign for Neurodegenerative Disease Awareness (ALS Therapy Development Institute).

Motiv8 worked with King’s Way Christian School in Vancouver, Washington. The school’s art program ran a contest that 60 students entered leading to 5 finalists who were able to put their design to Marcus’ game shoe and worn during the My Cleats My Cause game.

Our inspiration for raising money for ALS Research is Marcus and Motiv8 close friend Osiel Mendoza. Osiel is a fighter and been battling ther disease for almost four years. Osiel was on the field for the MyCleats MyCause game last year.

The contest/program was very successful in raising awareness for ALS. The game shoes are now being made available to you. Proceeds from the sale of each shoe will go directly to furthering the cause of ALS Research.
